Privacy Policy

SynesDJ helps you discover songs that mix well together and build sets from them. This page explains what information we handle when you use the SynesDJ iPhone app or synesdj.com, in plain language.
What we collect
- Account details. If you sign in, we receive your email address, and with Google sign-in also your name and profile picture. These are stored with our authentication provider, Supabase, and used only to operate your account.
- Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on the website or in the iPhone app, we store the email you enter so we can contact you about SynesDJ. Joining the waitlist does not create an account.
- Songs you search and analyze. When you look up a song, the search text goes to our server and to Deezer to find the track, and a 30-second public preview clip is analyzed to detect its key and tempo. Analysis results describe the song, not you.
- Playlists you grade or export. When you paste a Spotify playlist link, we read that playlist's public track list to grade it. When you export a set, the song titles and artists in it are sent to Soundiiz to create the transfer.
- Playlists you submit. If you send us a playlist for catalog curation, we store your name, email, playlist link, optional comments, and consent choices. Spotify song lists are read when submitted. Apple Music links are sent to us for manual review; we do not automatically import their songs. Joining the waitlist from that form is optional.
- Support requests. If you describe a problem from the Support screen, we receive your message, the page you sent it from, and your email if you choose to add one for a reply.
What stays on your device
Your sets and playlists, your taste profile, your recently viewed songs, your training streaks, and all usage statistics are stored locally in your browser or in the iPhone app's embedded browser storage. The iPhone app also remembers whether you have passed its welcome screen. Your sets and taste profile are not uploaded to our servers. On the website's preview experience, you can separately opt in to sharing feature-use events. Clearing site or app data removes local items, and the You tab has controls to reset your taste profile and forget your searches.
Services we rely on
- Vercel hosts the site and our server functions.
- Supabase provides sign-in and stores account details and our song catalog.
- FormSubmit forwards Apple Music playlist submissions to our email while manual review is in place. It also serves as a fallback for waitlist signups, and delivers support requests to our email.
- Google handles authentication if you choose Google sign-in.
- Deezer provides song search, artwork, and public 30-second previews.
- Spotify is read for public playlist track lists when you grade a playlist.
- Soundiiz performs playlist transfers when you export a set, under your own Soundiiz and streaming accounts.
Each of these services processes only what is needed for its job and has its own privacy policy.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
- We don't run ads or advertising trackers.
- We don't use third-party analytics. If you opt in to anonymous usage sharing on the website's preview experience, we receive feature-use events and a random device identifier. You can turn sharing off in the You tab. Otherwise, usage logs stay local.
- We don't read your private playlists or your streaming listening history.
Cookies and local storage
We use local storage for the features described above and the session storage our sign-in provider needs to keep you logged in. There are no advertising cookies.
Your choices
- Use SynesDJ without an account. Discovery, grading, and set building work signed out.
- Sign out at any time from the You tab.
- Clear local data from the You tab, your browser settings, or by removing the iPhone app.
- Delete your account from your profile: choose Delete account, then confirm. This removes your account, its profile, and SynesDJ data saved on the device used to delete it. Device-only sets on other devices can be removed by clearing SynesDJ's local data. You can also contact us about data you submitted separately, such as a waitlist signup or playlist submission.
Children
SynesDJ is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date.
